About Us

Natyatharu  was founded by the sisters, Daveena Langton and Christina Prakanthan in order to teach Bharathanatyam, the Indian classical dance in Pandanullur (Kalakshestra) style. Group and private classes are conducted in Florida, USA and Melbourne, Australia.

Her vision to bring Barathanatyam Art form mainstream by connecting the dots of preserving authenticity, maintaining relevance that can be embraced by all.
 

She is the choreographer, artistic director of Natyatharu Performing Arts USA since its inception who has trained her students in classical and contemporary dance to perform at various events such as; Walt Disney World, Bollywood Magic at Orlando Magic, Community cultural events, many private school events, India Day by IACC (Indian American Chamber of Commerce) etc. Natyatharu conducts its annual dance recitals since inception the year 2012, where all students get to showcase their talents on stage.

 

Daveena has conducted 4 Arrangetrams (Solo Dance Recitals) in Orlando Florida.

Daveena conferred “Visharadha” in Bharatanatyam from Lucknow Bhathakande Music College India. A native of Sri Lanka who started learning dance at an early age and specialized in Bharatanatyam (in Pandanullur/kalakshestra style), Folk Dance Drama and Indian Fusion Dance.


Upon receiving initial training under Smt. Anusha Thyagaraja (Post Graduate of Kalakshestra College of Fine Arts), later she received advanced training under Smt. Suriyakala Jeevananthan (Post graduate in performing arts from Shriram Bharathiya Kalakendra New Delhi) at the Shriram Shristi Institute in Sri Lanka. In 2002, she completed her Bharatanatya Arrangetram. She also learnt Carnatic music under Smt. Kalasuri Arunthathi Sri Ranganathan in Sri Lanka. She got the gift to learn Kathak and Bharatanatyam from the renowned Kathak dancer  Shri Hari (Founder of Noopur performing Art center) in Bangalore India. 

Beside dance, she has a MBA in Finance and a Diploma in Journalism.
