Natyatharu Performing Arts was founded by Daveena Langton in order to teach Bharathanatyam, the Indian classical dance in Pandanullur (Kalakshestra) style. Group and private classes are conducted in Florida, USA. We are dedicated in promoting this art to anyone with the interest and passion to learn, cherish this art. Our curriculum goes beyond Adavus to include folk & fusion dance as well as talam and theory of Indian classical dance, that are essentials for foundation of Bharatanatyam.
Her vision to bring Barathanatyam Art form mainstream by connecting the dots of preserving authenticity, maintaining relevance that can be embraced by all.
She is the choreographer, artistic director of Natyatharu Performing Arts USA since its inception who has trained her students in classical and contemporary dance to perform at various events such as; Walt Disney World, Bollywood Magic at Orlando Magic, Community cultural events, Lake Highland Preparatory school, Park Maitland school, India Day by IACC (Indian American Chamber of Commerce), Montessori World school etc. Natyatharu also has annual dance recitals since inception for the last 5 years where all her students get to showcase their talents on stage.
Daveena conferred “Visharadha” in Bharatanatyam from Lucknow Bhathakande Music College India. A native of Sri Lanka who started learning dance at an early age and specialized in Bharatanatyam (in Pandanullur/kalakshestra style), Folk Dance Drama and Indian Fusion Dance.
Upon receiving initial training under Smt. Anusha Thyagaraja (Post Graduate of Kalakshestra College of Fine Arts), later she received advanced training under Smt. Suriyakala Jeevananthan (Post graduate in performing arts from Shriram Bharathiya Kalakendra New Delhi) at the Shriram Shristi Institute in Sri Lanka. In 2002, she completed her Bharatanatya Arrangetram. She also learnt Carnatic music under Smt. Kalasuri Arunthathi Sri Ranganathan in Sri Lanka.
Her passion for art continued with further learning from Sri. Hari & Smt. Chetana (Kathak, Kuchupudi & Bharatanatyam), the performer and the founder of the Noopur Performing arts Centre, Bangalore.
Beside dance, she is a Finance major and a Journalist.
